REDACTION OF SENSITIVE DATA
It seems as though
more and more elected officials are facing the conflicting goals
of making as much information available over the internet while
protecting the release of confidential information such as
Social Security numbers and other data that may be used to
facilitate identity theft.
Even if redaction of this
information is not mandated it can still become a campaign
issue. Click
here to view a campaign ad from the 2006 race for
Ohio Secretary of State. Jennifer Brunner won that race by a 55%
to 40% margin.
In response to this
concern DTS has developed a sophisticated redaction engine that
use multiple algorithms to extract Social Security number and
other confidential information from a document, mask the
information and save the redacted image.
Please note that in our process
the original document remains unchanged. We feel this is a very
important differentiation since you may be required to present an
"original" document in a court of law. If your redaction process
permanently changes the document will the court still consider
it "original"?
Our iterative search
and extract ensures the highest degree of accuracy in the
redaction process.
County Users of our
TrakRecord Land Record Management System have the ability to view
the original, unredacted, images on internal workstations while
the public access and internet users would see the masked
document.
This allows you to
protect your citizens from potential Identity theft while
continuing to serve the needs of the people who have a need to
access original documents.
